TN Tech Police remind you to know the laws before you ride
Know the law before you ride. In Tennessee, bicycles are vehicles and must follow the same traffic laws as cars. Ride on the right side of the road, obey all traffic signals and stop signs, and use lights at night. Wear a helmet, use hand signals when turning, and stay alert. Drivers must give cyclists at least 3 feet when passing. Share the road and ride safely.

Chemistry Student Juliette Brame Selected for ACS Student Leadership Award
The Department of Chemistry would like to recognize chemistry major Juliette Brame for receiving the prestigious American Chemical Society (ACS) 2026 Student Leadership Award. She is one of 15 students from around the world selected by ACS to receive this award. Recipients are selected based on their leadership skills and their potential to become future leaders within the ACS professional society. She attended the invitation-only ACS Leadership Institute held in Atlanta, GA last month.

College of Education & Human Sciences’ Alum Named TN Supervisor of the Year
Diana Wood, Putnam County’s PreK–4 Instructional Supervisor, named the 2025–26 Tennessee Supervisor of the Year by the TN Department of Education. Wood is an alumna of Tech’s College of Education & Human Sciences receiving an Instructional Leadership M.A. in 2010 and a bachelor’s in elementary education in ‘93.
“I am excited that with this recognition, the wonderful work happening in Putnam Co. can be highlighted,” said Wood. “I’m honored to serve alongside so many dedicated leaders, teachers, and staff who put students first every day.”

Google scholarship fuels Tech computer science student’s research journey
It’s been a year of impactful research and discoveries for Gabriel Porteiro, a computer science major from Brazil.
Porteiro, who anticipates a May 2026 graduation, has been reaping the benefits of having received the Generation Google Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year. He was one of just 50 students selected from 2,500 applicants for the prestigious award.
“The financial support of this scholarship allowed me to completely focus on my academic career for a full year,” Porteiro said. “I have enjoyed my time doing research at Tennessee Tech, and it opened my eyes to different paths, including my plans to move forward to graduate school to study the intersection of finance and computer science.”
