    Dr. Jinfa Zhang named Associate Dean of Research for the College of Agriculture and Human Ecology

    Congratulations to Dr. Jinfa Zhang on his appointment as associate dean of research for the College of Agriculture and Human Ecology. Dr. Zhang previously served as director of the School of Agriculture and brings to the role more than 40 years of higher education experience.

    As a prolific and award-winning researcher, Dr. Zhang is a top-cited expert in cotton genetics and breeding whose work has been recognized by National Cotton Council of America, the Journal of Cotton Science and others.

    As director of the School of Agriculture, Dr. Zhang has continued to elevate and modernize the school’s academic programs, including the new fully online agribusiness degree pathway.

    TN Tech Police: Ride Smart, Ride Safe

    Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and other micro-transportation devices must be operated safely on campus. Yield to pedestrians, pass only when safe, travel on the right, obey traffic signals and stop signs, and do not use headphones while riding. On sidewalks or walkways, operate at pedestrian pace when pedestrians are present. Refer to Tennessee Tech Policy 191 for complete requirements.

    TTU Police reminds students that scooters follow the same laws as bicycles

    In Tennessee, scooters must follow the same traffic laws as bicycles. Ride with the flow of traffic and stay as far to the right as safely possible. Obey traffic signals and signs, yield when required, and remain alert to your surroundings. Ride responsibly and help keep yourself and others safe.

    TN Tech Police encourage pedestrians to know the laws

    Pedestrians: Use the crosswalk. When crossing outside a crosswalk, you must yield to vehicles. Where pedestrian signals are provided, obey “WALK” and “DON’T WALK” indications.

    Drivers: Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks when required, and never pass a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian.

    Know the law. Share the road. Choose the crosswalk.

    TN Tech Police remind you to know the laws before you ride

    Know the law before you ride. In Tennessee, bicycles are vehicles and must follow the same traffic laws as cars. Ride on the right side of the road, use lights at night, use hand signals when turning, and obey traffic signals and stop signs. Drivers must give cyclists at least 3 feet when passing.

    Cyclists should wear a helmet, stay alert, share the road, and ride safely.

    We’ll miss you, Kelly Chambers-Mendiratta!

    The Crawford Alumni Center extends its gratitude and well wishes to Assistant Director Kelly Chambers-Mendiratta, who will depart at the end of this month to spend more time with her family.
    Kelly is a two-time Tech graduate who has served the university for nearly 20 years, including as an adjunct instructor, scholarship manager and in various roles within University Advancement. Over the years, she has shared our alumni and donors’ stories in The Alumnus, in the annual publications Gratitude and Impact, and across other platforms.
    Let Kelly know how much her service to Tennessee Tech has meant to you by sending her a note at KChambers@tntech.edu before her last day on July 31.
