The TN Tech Study Abroad office is now offering virtual internships abroad! With a variety of countries and job fields to choose from, these internships will give you the real-world experience you’re craving in these crazy times of Covid-19. (Not to mention, an experience such as this would really polish off your resume!) Virtual study abroad opportunities are a new option that recreates much of the study abroad experience, such as learning about a new culture, immersing yourself in a new language, and connecting with people around the globe. While you may not be able to wander the winding streets of a new city, you can still acquire meaningful cultural experiences, and often at a fraction of the cost. • Limited stadium capacity to one-third

 

• Stadium will be cleared following each individual game

 

• Increased sanitation of high traffic venue areas

 

• Plexiglass barriers on all concession areas

 

• Reduced number of enclosed tents, limited capacity in remaining tents

 

• Online volunteer trainings

 

• New location and expedited volunteer check-in

 

• #CKVLCares Care Packages for all volunteers (branded #maskyourmuzzle masks, hand sanitizers, drink, snack for your shift, and long sleeve event t-shirt)

 

• Extra precautions are being taken to pair volunteers with those in their own households and allow for social distancing between/among volunteer teams throughout the event.

Tech’s Commission on the Status of Women seeks nominations (submit by Nov. 23) for two awards: 1) The Alison Piepmeier Outstanding Student Award – This award celebrates Piepmeier’s legacy of fierce feminism by recognizing an exceptional Tennessee Tech student whose research, activism and/or outreach advances gender equity. It acknowledges a student who shows a passion for learning, goes the extra mile to assist others, and contributes significantly to campus and/or the local community. Nominate here. 2) The CSW Excellence Award – This award is presented annually to an individual employed by Tennessee Tech University who has contributed significantly to gender equity. The award honors three qualities that characterize the tradition of women’s leadership at Tech: perseverance, generosity, and mentorship. The award celebrates the efforts of Tennessee Tech employees to provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for the campus community and work towards gender equity for all. Nominate here. If you and your family are in need this holiday season or if you know of another TTU affiliated family who may be in need this holiday season, the food pantry would like to provide a holiday food basket, to be picked up November 24, 2020.  The pantry has partnered with the National Society of Black Engineers and the Food, Nutrition and Dietetics Club to put together 25 baskets.  We know it has been a tough year and many families are struggling.  Sign up at the link below or sign up someone else you know could use the help this year.

This is your last chance to sign up for the Eagle Works Idea Challenge! Register by Friday, Nov. 6 for your chance at a piece of $2,000 in prizes. Join us (virtually!) on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. to pitch your best creative, innovative idea that would help solve a problem!

Students can compete alone or in teams, and will have 90 seconds to pitch their idea – no PowerPoint, no Q&A. This is for ALL students in ALL programs! Your idea doesn’t need to be fully thought out, but it should be feasible and solve a problem. Get creative and think big! Multiple prizes will be awarded!
