  • Tennessee Education Association member drive

    The Tennessee Education Association is a professional organization and state division of the National Education Association (NEA) open to all Tennessee teachers, including higher ed. TTU has an active chapter of TEA. It offers many leadership and professional development opportunities. For membership, it’s best to contact TTU TEA President Dr. Josie McQuail by phone or e-mail (jmcquail@tntech.edu), but it is also possible to join on the TEA website at http://www.teateachers.org/join-today (the local chapter asks for a $10 local fee to support activities and initiatives at TTU– mail to J.McQuail Box 5053, TTU with your membership application).  It is possible to join via Payroll deduction (contact J. McQuail for the form), bank draft, or check for the entire year, as you choose.  Included with membership is liability insurance and legal advice and representation through the Uniserve program. Membership applications are due in early September.

    Attune newsletter now available

    We invite you to view our latest issue of Attune with articles including Saying Goodbye to Project AWAKEN, (campus) Breast Feeding Spaces, and Tech’s Peer Empowerment Program. This newsletter is published twice yearly by the Women’s Center and the Commission on the Status of Women and focuses on gender-equity issues as well as Women’s Center resources and upcoming events. A digital version of the latest edition can be found at https://www.tntech.edu/women/attune-newsletter.php. Paper copies are available at the Women’s Center located in RUC 339. All students are welcome to submit an article pitch for our Fall 2021 issue by September 13, 2021 to womenscenter@tntech.edu.

  • Immediate Needs for Volunteer Reception Center in Waverly, TN

    Emergency Items Needed to begin the general clean up are as follows:

      • Flat Shovels
      • Brooms
      • Rakes
      • Floor Squeegees

    Bring items to RUC 119

    Our very own, Don Sowers, Interdisciplinary Studies, is on the ground for TN Tech and is running the volunteer reception site for general volunteers.  He has requested these items and we would love to be able to drive some of these items over to him on Friday.  They will be used by volunteers for week and months to come.

    Team Rubicon is on site as of 2pm today will begin getting clearance for volunteers to come in and begin mucking out the houses.  They are assessing the site and ordering in the supplies they will need to get the job done.  For more information on volunteering with them, go to their website: https://teamrubiconusa.org/

    If you are unable to volunteer doing manual labor, maybe you would like to help cook, feeding volunteers and victim through an organization called Mercy Chef.  Ms. Lisa Saylor would love your help.  Contact Michelle Huddleston at volunteer@tntech.edu to be put in contact with Lisa.

    The Center for Rural Innovation is looking for outstanding and motivated students for paid project-based work! Gain experience in your field of study working with area businesses and make sure you are career-ready when you graduate!

    We have upcoming openings in:

    • Basic website creation
    • Photography
    • Graphic design
    • Other opportunities as available

    Graduate/undergraduate/major does not matter, but must be a currently enrolled Tech student! Starting pay is $12/hr for project-based work.

  • Spring 2022 Graduation Application Deadline

    The deadline to apply for graduation (undergraduates) for Spring 2022 is September 1.  If you are intending to complete your degree is Spring 2022 and have not yet applied for graduation, you can apply directly from your Degree Works audit!  You can access your degree audit by clicking on the DegWork link in Tech Express.

    Friday Focus: Attendance Reporting

    Friday Focus sessions are designed to provide just-in-time resources and information for faculty throughout the semester. Each session focuses on a different resource, tool, or program available to faculty. During this session, representatives from the Registrar’s Office will go over the logistics of attendance reporting as we begin a new semester. In addition, you will leave the session with an understanding of how attendance reporting impacts other aspects of student and university success.

  • Student Ambassadors Needed

    Student Ambassadors Needed

    Attention all Education (Undergraduate and Graduate) and STEM (Undergraduate) majors! For this program, you will develop and record lesson plans for Tennessee teachers to use in their classrooms. You will also answer K–12 students’ questions in real-time when you host these recorded classes virtually through a Google Meets or Zoom platform. You will be paid $12/hour (except during the two-day Tennessee STEM Innovation Network summit), attend meetings, and gain valuable experience while building relationships that could last a lifetime when you work with us in the ADVISE program. We hope you will consider filling out the application and become an Ambassador!
