    Veterans Day Ceremony 2022

    The Military and Veteran Affairs department at Tennessee Tech would like to invite you to this year’s Veterans Day Ceremony.

    Since there are no classes on Veterans Day this year, the ceremony to commemorate that day will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at 11am in the Derryberry Auditorium. The event will feature speakers such as President Phil Oldham and retired US Navy Commander Keith Klemm, as well as performances by the Brass Arts Quintet, a cannon salute, and others.

    Please join us for this solemn ceremony to honor all who served. Pastries and refreshments from local establishments will be served. All are welcome.

    TCRI Hosts Start Here Pitch Competition

    On November 17th, 2022, the Tennessee Tech Center for Rural Innovation and The Biz Foundry will host the Start Here Pitch Competition in partnership with the Highlands Economic Partnership CareerFest. This is the first-ever Upper Cumberland pitch competition! Local, regional, and national startups in the Upper Cumberland region are invited to apply for a chance to win $10,000 for their business and pitch to the Upper Cumberland Angel Investors Fund. Jeff Brown, The Biz Foundry CEO, states, “This is a great opportunity to encourage innovative local, regional, and national entrepreneurs that can have an impact on our region and prove that they really can Start Here!” The Start Here Pitch Competition will be held at The Biz Foundry at 114 N Cedar Ave, Cookeville, TN from 8:00am to 12:00pm.     Jake Hoot is the winner of NBC’s The Voice and an alumnus of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies. Opening acts include CoIS alumnus Andrew Buckner, American Idol contestant Kory Wheeler, and Tech alumnus & employee Ben Higgins.

    There will also be a reception before the concert and a silent auction featuring Jake Hoot signed items, a condo in St. Augustine, Tech merchandise, and other items. Funds raised will benefit the TN Tech College of Interdisciplinary Studies & the Aspiring Adult Scholarship fund.
