    Study Abroad in Europe May 2027

    Study Abroad with us, MAY 9–23, 2027, visiting five of Europe’s most iconic cities, including London, Paris, Zurich, Munich and Vienna. Learn about Europe’s Energy Transition focusing on Nuclear, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems. We will explore wind, nuclear, and hydroelectric energy sites, learn about energy policy, sustainability and climate resilience, and of course do some sightseeing along the way! The trip cost is $2,950, including lodging, airfare, transportation and site visits. Open to both graduate and undergraduate students of ALL MAJORS for course credit.     Looking for an intense challenge? Register now for the Putnam Math Competition!

    Do you like math puzzles? Are you looking for a challenge of epic proportions? The Putnam Math Competition is calling.

    Held here on campus on the first Saturday in December, it consists of four 90-minute sessions, comprising a dozen supremely challenging problems, covering everything from algebra, geometry and calculus to number theory, linear algebra and methods of inductive proofs.

    These are a series of rigorous puzzles that call upon both your math knowledge and your problem-solving skills. Top performers receive scholarships, and all leave with the feeling of scaling the Mount Everest of math.

    There is no cost to participate, so if you’d like to learn more, contact Mark Rogers in the TTU Math Department (at mcrogers@tntech.edu). Fame and glory await you!

    Are you interested in a research career in the natural sciences (including psychology), mathematics, or engineering? Or do you know a student who qualifies? In Spring 2027, the Goldwater Foundation will award scholarships covering eligible expenses for up to $7500 per year.     Feature Film Casting on campus! Come out Saturday, September 12th at the Backdoor Playhouse and audition for a part in a feature film shot here in Cookeville and premiering in December on campus.   • Earth Science students gain hands-on learning through trip to Arizona

    Earth Science students gain hands-on learning through trip to Arizona

    Twelve Tennessee Tech Earth Sciences majors got to experience a 10-day field course that tested their geologic knowledge with hands-on learning. Students traveled to Petrified Forest National Park, Canyon de Chelly, Meteor Crater, the San Francisco Volcanic fields, Wupatki (Puebloan) National Monument, Sunset Crater National Park, Lowell Observatory, and the Grand Canyon. Activities on the trip included hiking the Grand Canyon, kayaking on the Colorado River, and climbing to over 12,000 feet on Mt. Humphreys.  The trip was led by Tech faculty members Drs. Evan Hart and Lauren Michel and funded by the College of Arts & Sciences and the Department of Earth Sciences.
