Rural Reimagined recognizes Dr. Jeremy Blair, a Professor of Art Education, for his Cameraless Photography Workshop in Historic Rugby. Through this workshop, participants experimented with cameraless photography methods by creating botanical photograms in a darkroom. Dr. Blair taught participants basic darkroom techniques, how to forage outside for materials, and methods for creating stunning black and white photograms without a camera. He states, “I taught this workshop at the Learning Center in Rugby and transformed their furnace room into a darkroom. I then introduced a technique called Cameraless Photography or Photograms where participants forage for items outside, place them on photosensitive paper in the darkroom, expose them with a flashlight, and develop them through a traditional darkroom process.” The workshop was ideal for beginners and explored historic photography methods inspired by the Victorian era. Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved with Rural Reimagined!
