THE IRIS REVIEW, Tennessee Tech’s literary arts magazine, is now accepting submissions for our 2021 annual issue, due out at the end of the Spring semester. We accept fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, art, and photography. Our submission deadline is February 28. Additional info, including how to submit, may be found at http://bit.ly/theirisreview. Love Potion Pre-sale Fundraiser Feb 2-10
Are you looking for an easy and convenient Valentine’s gift? How about a tube of Love Potion #9? The Student Members of the American Chemical Society will be pre-selling Love Potions (plastic test tubes filled with M&Ms) through our Square Store (https://smacsttu.square.site/) from Feb. 2-10 and will deliver them to your Tech mailbox (for students) or office (for faculty and staff) on Feb. 12. BIDE changes meeting days/times!!
BIDE will now be meeting on a new day/time this semester. BIDE meetings will be held on Wednesday afternoons at 4:00pm. Our first Wednesday meeting is on February 3. The rest of the meeting dates for the semester are as follows: February 17, March 3 & 24, and April 7 & 21.

Call for Nominations for General Education Award 2020-2021
This teaching award recognizes outstanding teaching in general education courses—1000- and 2000-level courses that fulfill general education requirements in Communication, History, Humanities/Fine Arts, Math, Natural Sciences, and Social/Behavioral Sciences. Eligible nominees are currently full-time or part-time faculty members, instructors, or graduate teaching assistants who have taught general education courses at Tech for at least the past two full semesters. Each nominee will be contacted to submit additional application material. Each of the two winners will receive a cash award and a plaque. Any student, faculty member, administrator, or recent graduate may nominate an outstanding teacher of general-education courses by submitting a letter of nomination that must be received by Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in print or via email, and addressed to: Linda Null, Chair, General Education Awards Committee; lnull@tntech.edu; Campus Box 5053.

Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Research at Mississippi State University
We’ll kick off the Spring 2021 semester of (virtual) Undergraduate STEM Research Seminars with a presentation describing research activities at Mississippi State University (MSU). Professors Lamiaa El Fassi and Dipangkar Dutta (Experimental Nuclear Physics) and Professors Donna Pierce and Angelle Tanner (Astronomy and Astrophysics) will join us to describe their research as well as the overall program at MSU, which includes astronomy, atomic, molecular, optical, and plasma physics, computational physics, condensed matter physics, and nuclear physics. These research activities include work in both physics and engineering, so this will be an opportunity to hear and ask questions about a wide assortment of exciting scientific work! The seminar will be this Friday, February 5th at 4pm. It is geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend.
