University Police Officers complete Crisis Intervention Team training

66

Police officers from the University Police Department recently completed Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training. This training equips officers with the tools and resources to respond more safely and compassionately to individuals with serious mental illnesses in crisis. CIT provides officers with alternatives to arrest and incarceration when they encounter people facing mental health issues. The officers who attended the training include Chief Fred Nichols, Lt. Taylor King, Sgt. Jeff Bulakowski, Officer Hannah Beaty, Officer Jeremiah Lewis, and Officer Ben Winfree. Additional officers will attend CIT training as new sessions become available.
