Dr. Mathew Pearson, a nuclear physicist hailing from the University of Liverpool, is visiting campus this week and will give our first Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar this semester. Dr. Pearson studies the properties of exotic nuclei using a laser to precisely measure atomic transitions that are affected by the configuration of the nucleus. His talk, Laser Spectroscopy in Nuclear Physics, will be this Friday, September 17th at 4pm in Volpe Library 248. It will be geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend! Visit the seminar webpage for more information and the current schedule for upcoming talks.
