Picture a Scientist takes viewers through cramped laboratories to spectacular field sites, where they will encounter scientific luminaries who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all. A biologist, a chemist, and a geologist lead viewers on a journey deep into their experiences overcoming brutal harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle slights as they work to revolutionize the culture of science. This event is cosponsored by the Department of Earth Sciences, the TN Space Grant, and the Women’s Center. The film screening will take place on Monday, February 8, at 7 p.m. virtually. For those who would like an in-person socially distanced screening option, the film will be shown in the Stonecipher Lecture Hall (SLH 126) at the same time.
