National Chemistry Week Oct. 18 – 24

The Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) invite you to join us in celebrating National Chemistry Week (NCW) next week. The theme this year is “Sticking with Chemistry” and focuses on glues and adhesives. The goal of NCW is to educate people about how chemistry impacts their lives and promotes the value of chemistry in everyday life. We have several events planned throughout the week that we invite the campus and general community to participate in: Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. we will be giving away take home activity bags in the STEM center lobby; Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 5:30 p.m. in Foster 233 undergraduate Rebecca Firth will be giving a presentation over Green Chemistry and Pollution Prevention; Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 5-7 p.m. we will paint pumpkins and have hot cider in Foster 406; Thursday, Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in Foster 233 we will show the webinar “Strange Tales from the Periodic Table: the Disappearing Spoon”, and Friday, Oct. 23 we will host a spirit night at Panda Express from 4-8 p.m. Make sure to check Tech Times next week for more details on all of these fun events.
