The Brass Arts Quintet at TTU is proud to present a concert of the music of Center Stage Guest Composer Jim Self on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30pm in Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts Building.
For this evening’s performance, they are delighted to be featuring compositions by renowned Tubist and composer, Jim Self in addition to other works from the Renaissance through the Romantic era that were composed originally for brass.
Self is an internationally known musician, having recorded approximately 2,000 movie and TV soundtracks as well as performing live in classical and popular music styles. As a performer he is perhaps best known as the voice of the mother ship in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and was also the featured tuba soloist in John Williams’ score to “Home Alone.” He has recorded 15 albums of jazz and original music for various ensembles. His music for this concert is selected from one of Self’s latest CD releases, “Flying Circus: Music for Brass Quintet.”
