{"id":946,"date":"2016-04-19T15:47:31","date_gmt":"2016-04-19T15:47:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.tntech.edu\/visions\/?p=946"},"modified":"2018-02-07T22:06:50","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T22:06:50","slug":"tech-honors-eight-with-outstanding-alumni-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.tntech.edu\/visions\/tech-honors-eight-with-outstanding-alumni-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Tech honors eight with outstanding alumni awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eight Tennessee Tech graduates were honored Feb. 5 at this year\u2019s outstanding alumni awards, held at Cookeville\u2019s Leslie Town Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the university\u2019s six colleges, the Whitson-Hester School of Nursing and the athletics program annually select one alumnus to receive the honor, based on their achievements, support of and commitment to TTU.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Davis Watts, a banker from Cookeville, was honored by the College of Agriculture &amp; Human Ecology.<\/p>\n<p>The College of Arts &amp; Sciences recognized Marc Norman, professor of earth sciences at Australian National University in Canberra, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Gail Fields, an orthopedic surgeon from Blackfoot, Idaho, received the athletics award.<\/p>\n<p>The College of Business recognized Charlotte Swafford, a vice president and treasurer for National HealthCare Corporation in Murfreesboro.<\/p>\n<p>Grant Swallows, a high school principal, is the outstanding alumnus from the College of Education.<\/p>\n<p>Trudy Harper, an adjunct professor of electrical and computer engineering at TTU, received the award from the College of Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Karen Ford Joyce, a nurse practitioner from Cookeville, was recognized by the Whitson-Hester School of Nursing.<\/p>\n<p>The College of Interdisciplinary Studies recognized Cynthia Moore Humble, a retired non-profit volunteer manager from Campbellsville, Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations for future awards can be made at ttualumni.org.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eight Tennessee Tech graduates were honored Feb. 5 at this year\u2019s outstanding alumni awards, held at Cookeville\u2019s Leslie Town Centre.
