Col. Daniel V. Chapa Jr.<\/strong>, \u201985\u00a0business management, retired in\u00a0March after 37 years of service\u00a0with the U.S. Army. Daniel started\u00a0his career with Tech\u2019s ROTC\u00a0Golden Eagle Battalion, served as\u00a0cadet commander and was named\u00a0a distinguished military graduate.<\/p>\n

He was one of a select group\u00a0to receive the Army\u2019s Order\u00a0of Military Medical Merit for\u00a0his work to provide updated\u00a0medical equipment to soldiers\u00a0and integrate that equipment and\u00a0updated technologies into field\u00a0kits. The updates included CT\u00a0scanners, ultrasound machines\u00a0and medical transport equipment\u00a0to monitor and relay a wounded\u00a0soldier\u2019s health information en\u00a0route to treatment.<\/p>\n

Daniel also helped to provide\u00a0enhanced capabilities to collect\u00a0and evacuate wounded men and\u00a0women from the battlefield and\u00a0protect medics through the use of\u00a0mine-resistant ambush-protected\u00a0ambulances.<\/p>\n

For those contributions,\u00a0the Boy Scouts of America\u00a0recognized Daniel as a 2015\u00a0distinguished Eagle Scout.\u00a0During his nearly 40 years of\u00a0service, Daniel was decorated\u00a0twice with the Legion of Merit,\u00a0received three Bronze Stars and\u00a0the Soldier\u2019s Medal for Heroism,\u00a0among other honors and awards\u00a0for military and civic service.<\/p>\n
