Chinyere

Nigerian doctoral student Chinyere Mbachu recently received an engineering fellowship from the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship worth up to $50,000. The fellowship was given to 67 people from across the world and aims to help women from developing countries pursue advanced degrees in scientific disciplines.

Her work in finding renewable resources for use in producing a low-cost biodiesel fuel with little emission to the environment was the basis of her receiving the grant.

“I am looking for alternative resources that require an inexpensive method of production in order to substitute for the current oil demand without using food crops like corn and sugar cane,” Mbachu said.
