Friends and family gathered in September to honor Col. Jerry Cashion, agricultural engineering ’86, at a memorial bridge naming ceremony in Cornersville, Tenn.

Cashion was born in Lewisburg, Tenn., and was a graduate of Cornersville High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 27 years and was awarded the Legion of Merit.

Cashion earned a master’s degree in military strategic studies at the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. He also held a master’s degree in business administration from Long Island University. Cashion was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a G-5 at the United States Army War College, Carlisle, a fitness instructor at the Carlisle YMCA and a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Cashion died Nov. 2, 2012, at his home in Carlisle, Pa. He is interred at Arlington National Cemetery.

Cashion’s family includes his wife, Kathy, and two children, Kelly and Clay.
