Undergraduate research and creative activities at Tennessee Tech have come a long way since the debut of the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URECA!) Grants program in the 2011-2012 academic year. The summer of 2016 marked a significant evolution when URECA!\u2019s summer grant program transitioned into the Creative Inquiry Summer Experience (CISE) program. As a pivotal element of our QEP, EDGE: Enhanced Discovery through Guided Exploration, CISE has thrived. This summer, 46 students were awarded CISE grants to pursue innovative research projects and creative endeavors under the guidance of faculty mentors.<\/p>\n
It’s common in academia for the funding sources and oversight of programs to change over time. In line with this trend, URECA! is now fully integrated into our QEP’s funding, with its management overseen by Tech\u2019s QEP Director, Dr. Lenly Weathers.<\/p>\n
As this transition unfolds, we want to express our profound gratitude to Dr. Ed Lisic, Professor of Chemistry. His steadfast dedication and visionary leadership have left an indelible mark on our undergraduate research and creative activities programs, notably URECA! and CISE.<\/p>\n
