Dr. Henniger proposed her project titled &#8220;Healthcare Provider Attitudes Towards Substance Use Disorder Treatment in Tennessee,\u201d which will use survey methodology to not only \u201cinvestigate the prevalence and effects of stigma towards drug users\u201d in a sample of Tennessean physical and mental healthcare providers but also potential stigma moderators, \u201cincluding healthcare providers\u2019 mental models of addiction and experience treating substance use.\u201d Her project will increase understanding of the stigma\u2019s psychological origins, resulting in better-informed training programs for counteracting harmful mentalities and \u201cmore effective treatment and support for rural Tennesseans struggling with addiction.\u201d We congratulate Dr. Henniger and encourage other faculty members to submit their ideas in the future!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rural Reimagined would like to recognize Dr. Nicole Henniger (Counseling and Psychology) for receiving Level 2 funding ($2,500-$10,000) from our Faculty Grant Program.
