The University Orchestra, under the direction of Prof. Dan Allcott, will perform its final concert of the year “Drums and Rock n Roll” on Tuesday evening April 19th\u00a0at 7:30 p.m. at the Bryan Fine Arts Center. Allcott will also appear as electric cello soloist in a special arrangement of “Crazy Train”, the rock song made famous by Ozzy Osbourne on his solo debut album in 1980. In addition to the string section, Allcott will receive backing from a rhythm section featuring freshman bass player Sam Woerdeman and senior percussionist Jazzy Jones.<\/p>\n

The concert will open with the “Drumroll” Symphony by Austrian composer Franz Josef Haydn written in 1795. “Like\u00a0Crazy Train<\/em>, the Haydn symphony is a lot of fun, and will include some special work on Timpani by Jazzy Jones, and a spritely violin solo in the slow movement played by our concertmaster, Aniza Moore” says Allcott.<\/p>\n

The concert is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
