Rural Reimagined\u00a0(RR)\u00a0congratulates Dr. Pedro Arce on receiving the 2021 Outstanding Chemical Engineer Alum Award (OChE) at Purdue University for his work in engineering education and \u201chis forward-thinking approach to developing an interdisciplinary model defining the \u2018new\u2019 engineer.\u201d He has worked alongside\u00a0RR\u00a0on many projects and collaborations and was recognized recently for his work promoting\u00a0a new type of professional engineer \u2013\u00a0one that is holistic, innovative, socially impactful, and with an entrepreneur mindset.\u00a0\u201cEngineering is not only about formulae, experimental labs and practice, it also involves the understanding\u00a0of\u00a0social issues and entrepreneurship to become impactful in helping communities with their challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n
