If you are returning to campus for the first time since last spring, you will notice that there have been some significant parking changes. This is because of construction on projects such as the new Recreation and Fitness Center, and the Laboratory Sciences Building.
NEW Temporary Parking Lot next to Willow Avenue
To alleviate some of the parking pressure caused by the partial closure of the commuter lot, a new temporary RED-zoned lot is located between Whitney and Willow avenues. The lot is south of University Drive. Entrances and exits to the lot are off Whitney Avenue.
Commuter Parking Lot between Capital Quad and Lewis Hall
The eastern half will remain open through the fall semester and will be a mix of GREEN and RED spaces.
The western half of the commuter lot, from 8th to 10th streets, has been fenced off to allow for construction.
The entire lot will be permanently closed at the end of the fall semester.
Parking Lot North of Ray Morris Hall
Part of this lot has been closed for construction.
Roaden University Center West Lot
The parking lot behind the building will close after Friday, Sept. 8, and will be the staging area for the building’s expansion project. The 30-minute spots have been moved to the median of Peachtree Avenue from A Street to 8th Street.
Current West Campus Parking Lot north of Tech Village
Last year, the current West Campus Parking Lot, next to Tech Village, was often empty. Take advantage of this location along with the campus shuttle stop at the corner of University Drive and Laurel Avenue. This lot is PURPLE-zoned and available to any vehicle with a Tech parking permit.
The university operates two shuttle routes (gold and purple routes) that travel on continuous loops from the exterior to the interior of campus and back. Shuttles run from 6:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. To see a route map, go to https://www.tntech.edu/police/parking/shuttles. The routes are also noted on the campus map at https://www.tntech.edu/parking-map.pdf.
The following roads have been permanently closed:
- Whitney Avenue from 7th Street to 9th Street
- Armstrong Avenue from 7th Street to 8th Street
- 8th Street from Willow Avenue to Stadium Drive
Future West Campus Parking Lot Expansion behind Tech Village
The 650-space expansion of the West Campus Parking Lot is scheduled for completion this fall semester. This will be PURPLE-zoned and available to any vehicle with a Tech parking permit.
Remember, when classes are in session, zoned parking is enforced.

We appreciate your patience during the construction of much-needed university facilities.
