Dan Swartling, associate professor of chemistry at Tennessee Tech, has been named the 2017 Outreach Volunteer of the Year for the Nashville local section of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

Swartling is the ACS student chapter advisor at Tech and does numerous outreach activities including activities at the local Fall FunFest event, National Chemistry Day and Chemists Celebrate Earth Day.

He has served ACS at the local, state and national levels.

The ACS Outreach Volunteer of the Year recognition program was established to acknowledge individuals and their contribution to community outreach efforts.
