The Tennessee state legislature passed a bill to allow Tech to produce cannabis oil for research into the oil’s effects on intractable epilepsy.

“It’s very insightful for the legislature to take this stance. It’s in a very moderated, controlled kind of way,” said President Phil Oldham. “This study is about helping the families of Tennessee.”

Tech’s agriculture, chemistry and engineering faculty plan to create a uniform oil for reliable research, which will be used elsewhere in the state for any medical studies.
